What happens when you are the only foreigners in a remote village, ten hours from the nearest store? On this episode we hear from Sergio, a Chilean missionary who crossed cultures to share with Muslims in Africa. Amazing miracles took place as they told stories of the prophets and discipled in spite of obstacles, resistance and struggles with syncretism.

• Find ways to serve those you are called to and establish relationships with local leaders.

• There was no other way but to pray. Being in this situation formed Sergio into a man of prayer.

• Be patient. Tell many Old Testament stories first, before introducing stories of Jesus in a Muslim context.

• We had to slow down the spread of new groups, in order to focus on transformation and spiritual depth as well as leadership development.

• Look to Scripture for answers, not only to DMM/CPM training.

• As movements begin, culture and biblical values can clash. Be willing to pay the price to see true transformation take place.

• We are not aiming for a believers making movement but a disciple making movement.

• Slowly as leaders were trained, they began to learn how to correct sin issues, and address them and the movement spread even to other people groups.

• As Latinos, not having money was a strength. It made us closer to the local people. Don’t see that as a weakness but as something valuable.
